When It's Time
Written by Alex Jones and illustrated by Antony Griffiths
ISBN 9781915803153
Amelia is excited and leaps out of bed early because she knows she's going to see her granddad who's always loads of fun. They do lots of great things together, like making up poems and drawing pictures, but best of all he has a boat and he often takes her sailing on the nearby reservoir, and of course he always has a sweetie or two in his pocket as well! But it seems her granddad is poorly and can't do as much as he used to.
Amelia learns that sometimes you have to say goodbye forever to someone you love, and that it's okay to be sad and to cry when you need to let your feelings out. Life can be difficult and confusing; especially when you're only six and a half. But Amelia realises that remembering someone special and the happy memories you have of them can still make you smile.
