Margaret Bramford was born in Overbury, Worcestershire, and grew up in Pershore, where her family lived from 1931–1981. She has been a teacher of French and Spanish for most of her life and then a secretary.


Her previous books have included two novels about Victorian Malvern; a biography of her aunt, From Cottage to Palace; five books of short stories; a social history of Pershore, Worcestershire, Pershore, Where D’ye Think! and This Was My Pershore; a book on Malvern, This Was Our Malvern!; a social history of Upton-upon-Severn, Recollections; and Overbury, Queen of Villages. 


Margaret has lived in Malvern for thirty-three years.
