The author was born in Edinburgh in 1946 and, after spending his formative years there, the family moved to Malvern. Having completed his schooling he entered the world of commerce and spent seven years happily employed until an ‘eureka’ moment occurred at a New Year’s Eve party in 1969. This was to dramatically change his future and saw him embark on an epic journey crossing the European and African continents between 1970 and 1977. This book is an account of the highs and lows encountered throughout the trip, which commenced by vehicle, but soon saw him hitch-hiking his way across the Dark Continent, rubbing shoulders with presidents, prisoners and primates along the way.
