Book One of the Memoirs of Darren Cox
Trevor Taylor
ISBN 978-1-916919-56-3
A knock on the door hurls Darren Cox from his quiet twenty-first-century life to the dark and brutal reality of Saxon Britain.
Waking up bound and beaten in a smoke-filled tenth-century hut, he realizes he hasn’t just been kidnapped – he’s been the target of terrifying black magic that transcends time.
His captor, the hideously scarred Brea, has enlisted a sinister druid’s help to drag Darren across the centuries to pay for the fiery sins of his distant ancestors.
Facing a slow and agonizing execution, Darren’s only chance of survival is a daring escape into untamed wilderness alongside a resourceful slave girl, Abbrienna, and her captive sister, Idina.
Hunted by Brea’s ruthless grandsons and the dark druid Ransley who summons demonic hellhounds and unnatural beasts, the trio embarks on a desperate trek toward the distant sanctuary of Dore Abbey.
Armed with only improvised weapons and a growing faith, Darren must survive a brutal world where the dark arts are deadly real.
Set against the shadowed beauty of the Malvern Hills, Sins of the Fathers is a gripping tale of time travel, forbidden love, and ancient magic, where courage is tested, destiny is challenged, and dark forces will stop at nothing to claim their revenge.

Reviews
Trevor Taylor’s first novel is an unsophisticated first person narrative which lacked grammatical and spelling checks, but I was gripped by the story and wanted to read on. The setting, in Anglo-Saxon Mercia, was well imagined, the characters were well-developed and the battle between ancient Druid magic and the power of the newly introduced Christian faith is at the heart of the story. The author’s interest in the genetics of genealogy prepares the way for a sequel, which I eagerly await.
