Have you ever wondered where the end of the rainbow is? Are you in a dark place where the sun never seems to shine? Maybe you are so self-assured you have no interest in what the future holds. Some of you say, ‘Whatever will be, will be, the future is not ours to see.’ Where is your position in the journey of life? Are you travelling light or weighed down with baggage? Do you know where you are heading or have you no sense of direction? My position was at the back of the queue, with too much baggage and too little sense! Fear and negativity escorted me on my travels, with anxiety stamped on my ticket. Anyone who has ever read or is familiar with John Bunyan’s book Pilgrim’s Progress will understand it is about a person who embarks on a soul-searching adventure, encountering many obstacles and characters along the way. In the Bible, Jesus says ‘wide is the path that leads to destruction, and narrow is the path that leads to life, but few will find it.’ Only Believe covers my own personal journey from childhood to present day, unearthing potholes, obstacles, treasure and promises. My journey is not yet over and there may be more obstacles to face, but now I am travelling in the right direction with an amazing travelling companion, his name is Jesus! My hope is that it will encourage and inspire you through your own journey of life. People need confirmation and assurance that there is a purpose to their existence, and that there is a future that is not bleak and hopeless. In the words of Jesus, ‘Do not be afraid, only believe,’ (Mark 5:36).
