Carl Franklin, a proud Brummie born in 1955 and now living in Stafford, is a former high school teacher who, since 1991, has worked as a museum curator. On the Way to Find Out is unclassifiable; in essence, it is a collection of true personal experiences, illustrated with examples of his own artwork and deeply moving poems written over two years whilst battling the effects of depression. Throughout the book, there is a theme of personal struggle with the world around him and the events that have changed and influenced him. His work experiences, along with the additional perspectives of living in Ethiopia and becoming a father, are honestly recorded, presenting an accurate description of who he is today. It is a complete package which resonates with honesty.
Hopefully, this book will offer guidance to anyone who, inspired by events in their lives, decides to explore their own creativity. It also suggests ways to improve mental health.
