Messing with My Mind

John Simnett

ISBN 9781916919419

When people have a serious health issue, maybe cancer or a stroke, it can be life-disrupting.
Let alone the difficulties for the patient and the supporting medical staff, family and friends are likely to be very worried and experiencing changes in their relationship with the patient. There may be differences in the patient’s abilities, even incapacity, and long-term mental and physical effects that both parties find difficult to come to terms with.

For the children of parents who are sick, they may find that their parent is relying on them in a way that curtails how they live their own lives, and it can be a steep learning curve adapting to the switch of roles – parent becoming the dependent.

This book of illustrated short stories is intended to be a lightweight look at a heavy subject. I hope that its reading provides some insight into what marvellous machines our bodies are, a shared belief that out of darkness can come light, and even some entertainment and fun.
