This account, drawn from the archive of Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church, brings new insight to the Great War. Inspired by the war memorial panels it sets the scene, through many letters and articles of the time, of a newly formed community coping with the hardships of wartime life at home while the menfolk were serving abroad.
