Founded in 1929, by Henry John Aston (also known locally as Jack Aston), Aston’s was a family run business where the sons and daughters all helped in some way. Beginning with the transportation of vegetables to the early morning markets, returning to take local children to school – usually in the same vehicle – the business developed through the years into a company operating 22 vehicles, travelling around Europe. Over the latter years a huge variety of models of coach were being operated, including many being the first to be sold in Britain. These included the Bova and Van Hools. All kinds of work was carried out, from school contracts through to Continental tours. The company is still operating, though not from Kempsey and has now grown to a large operation.
